Infrastructures and expertise for applied and industrial research
The Innovative Materials Open Lab integrates the equipment and expertise of the major laboratories located within the Area Science Park campuses. These facilities are dedicated to applying advanced imaging techniques, structural analysis, and chemical characterisation for the study and development of advanced surfaces and materials.
Equipment and expertise
The Innovative Materials Open Lab performs analysis at the atomic and molecular level, measurements and experimentation on materials, study of surfaces, and quantitative analysis of the chemical composition of materials, with extremely broad fields of application ranging from nanotechnologies and development of nanostructured materials to failure analysis and process control in industrial activity.
The Innovative Materials Open Lab integrates specialized equipment and expertise from:
- Synchrotron light source – Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste;
- FERMI free electron laser – Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste;
- Nanosciences and nanotechnology laboratories – CNR-IOM
- structural biology laboratory – CNR-IC
- Electron Microscopy Laboratory (LAME) – Area Science Park;
- ORFEO datacenter (LADE) – Area Science Park.
