Shock & Vibration Course – Accelerated lifetime testing and Seismic qualification with Tom Irvine (Vibrationdata)

25-26-27 January 2017
AREA Science Park | Padriciano 99 | Trieste | ItalyDownload the programme

Which are the basic concepts behind shock and vibration phenomena? How to define an accelerated lifetime testing spectra? How to undertake seismic qualification process?

These and other issues will be the focus of this course that is intended for calculation or testing engineers as well as managers to understand the potential application of the various techniques in a wide range of industry sectors from automotive, aerospace or heavy industry. The course will explore the basic principles of shock and vibration phenomena and will explain the main tools available in the vibration analysis. Special focus will be given to the definition of experiments to qualify components to withstand severe vibrating environment like: cars or engines lifetime operations, vectors launch, airplane take-off, flight and landing or earthquake.

THE SPEAKER

Tom Irvine earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering science from Arizona State University. He derived the shock and vibration levels and performed hands-on testing for the first Pegasus launch vehicle, which flew in 1990. Tom is currently a scientist at Dynamic Concepts, Inc., in Huntsville, Alabama and he is also an industry representative for the NASA Engineering & Safety Center (NESC) Loads and Dynamics Technical Disciplines Team.
