Lot Ruggero
Ruggero Lot è un tecnologo a tempo indeterminato presso l’Istituto RIT di Area Science Park. Le sue principali attività di ricerca sono concentrate sull’infrastruttura HPC e sul data engineering. Assieme al team di Area Science Park lavora allo sviluppo e all’analisi quantitativa di dataset per le scienze dei materiali e le scienze omiche. Inoltre, crea e implementa soluzioni software state-of-the-art sull’infrastruttura HPC.
Si è unito all’Istituto RIT dopo il suo Ph.D. all’Università Paul Sabatier di Tolosa, dove ha lavorato sulla simulazione numerica di fenomeni complessi all’interfaccia fra silicio cristallino e amorfo. Questi fenomeni sono stati studiati con un potenziale ottenuto fittando con PANNA dati generati attraverso l’applicazione della density functional theory implementata nel Quantum Espresso. PANNA è un codice sviluppato da Ruggero con altri ricercatori durante il suo Ph.D. che utilizza metodi di artificial intelligence.

Ruggero Lot is a permanent technologist at RIT Institute at Area Science Park. He is mainly focused on the high-performance computing infrastructure and data engineering. In Area Science Park he jointly works on the development of FAIR datasets on the material and omics sciences and their quantitative analysis. Furthermore, he scouts and implements state-of-the-art software solutions on the HPC facilities for the research community.
He joined the RIT Institute after his Ph.D. at the University of Toulouse Paul Sabatier, where he worked on numerical simulations of complex phenomena at the interface between amorphous and crystalline silicon. These phenomena were investigated with a potential obtained by fitting density functional theory calculations performed using Quantum Espresso with PANNA. PANNA is a code he developed in collaboration with other researchers during his Ph.D. that uses artificial intelligence methods.
