SISSI – Strumenti Informativi a Supporto della Simbiosi Industriale
Research program on local industrial symbiosis based on the innovative SISSI, a georeferenced tool capable of assembling and unifying available data from various sources (business analytics data, waste data, infrastructure data, constraints…) and making them easily visualizable.
The tool is replicable and scalable, designed to easily and periodically integrate new data and can be useful for activating good circular economy practices through synergies between companies. Industrial symbiosis involves the exchange of resources such as materials (by-products, waste, water), energy residues, services, and expertise between two or more companies.
RESULTS
The goal was to assess the technical and economic feasibility of implementing symbiotic exchanges between companies located in the Giuliano industrial hinterland. The benefits for each company could include both environmental and economic aspects (reduction of raw material costs, reduction of energy costs, waste reduction for disposal, etc.).
Based on the data collected, meetings will be organized with the involved companies to discuss potential resource flow exchanges, and the idea is to subsequently support them in identifying investment proposals for infrastructure planning, where necessary
