Why work at Area Science Park?
In carrying out our initiatives, the care of human resources, their well-being and their work is a fundamental principle of Area Science Park: people, relationships and skills are at the core of our mission, with the aim of adding value to the whole system.
Area Science Park has an active community of over 2,800 people. Half are under 40 years old; three-quarters are university graduates or even have a PhD. More than half are engaged in R&D. Women represent over a third of the total (37%).
Staff of Area Science Park have access to a gym, a counselling desk, an anti-violence counter and can participate in conferences on prevention and well-being. In addition, at the disposal of all the tenants of Area Science Park, there are canteens, coffee bars, ATMs, equipped green spaces, cycling paths and electric vehicle charging stations.
It is not surprising that one of the first guests of Area Science Park are children. Every year the inter-company nursery welcomes them to help the men and women working on our campuses balance their work commitments with their role as parents.

We are looking for 2 fixed-term Researchers in AI and Data Engineering
For our Laboratory of Data Engineering – LADE in Padriciano (Trieste), we are seeking to hire two Fixed-Term Researchers (Professional Level III under the National Collective Labour Agreement for Education and Research) for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The researchers will join Area Science Park’s interdisciplinary team active in the fields of AI and Data Engineering, contributing to the development of AI models for the analysis of clinical data, textual reports, and diagnostic images to support the identification of rare diseases. The activities will include: development and validation of Machine Learning and Deep Learning models; design of pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, and management of complex clinical data; development of AI interpretability tools and model analysis methodologies; management of healthcare data according to FAIR-by-design principles. The researchers will collaborate with scientific, institutional, and technological partners in benchmarking, validation, and application-oriented transfer activities. Candidates must hold a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) relevant to the position or alternatively have at least three years of post-master’s professional or research experience in one or more of the fields described in the call (please refer to the official notice for the list of eligible degree classes). Candidates are also required to hold Italian citizenship or citizenship of another European Union Member State, have an excellent command of English and, for non-Italian applicants, an adequate knowledge of Italian, be familiar with the main software tools and IT applications used for research data analysis, and be available to travel within Italy and abroad. Public selectionsMSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity in Virology
Area Science Park invites motivated researchers with a strong track record to prepare joint applications for the 2026 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships to be carried out at the Virology Unit. The Virology Unit at Area Science Park, with its expertise in performing experiments in BSL2 and BSL3, focuses on studies in molecular virology, phenotypic investigation of mutations in viral proteins, and innovative tools for preventing viral infections. Possible research topics include Flavivirus, Coronavirus and other families, vaccine design, development of antiviral peptides and monoclonal antibodies, investigation of interactions between viral and cellular proteins. Area Science Park offers an interdisciplinary environment, advanced research infrastructures, and a unique ecosystem integrating public research, companies, startups, and innovation centres. Candidates will also benefit from dedicated MSCA support services throughout the entire project lifecycle.
