Research and training in genetic engineering and biotechnology applied to health, nutrition and agricultural and industrial development. ICGEB provides a high-level international scientific environment for advanced research and education in biotechnology for more than 60 member states.

It collaborates with other multilateral organisations, disseminates information related to biosafety, bioethics, and promotes scientific information.
