We are looking for a permanent Researcher in advanced microscopy and materials science
Area Science Park is seeking a permanent Researcher (third level Researcher, C.C.N.L. Education and Research), who will work in the scientific area of advanced microscopy and materials science.
The researcher shall carry out, with a high level of autonomy and in collaboration with national and international research groups, research activities using advanced electron microscopy techniques, with particular reference to transmission electron microscopy techniques (TEM/STEM) and related spectroscopic and diffractometric techniques, applied to the study of functional, nanostructured and complex materials. The activities shall include, in particular:
- advanced material characterisation by means of electron microscopy, with particular reference to high-resolution TEM/STEM microscopy and analytical and spectroscopic techniques, aimed at establishing correlations between synthesis processes, microstructure and the functional properties of materials;
- development and optimisation of analytical methods and image simulation approaches for TEM/STEM, aimed at linking the local and atomic structure of materials to their physical and chemical properties;
- implementation of correlative microscopy approaches, integrating data obtained from electron microscopy with that acquired throughother complementary techniques (e.g. synthesis, functional characterisation, spectroscopic analysis);
- development and refinement of protocols for sample preparation and processing for electron microscopy, as well as for the comprehensive and integrated characterisation of materials.
The candidate must hold a Research Doctorate/PhD relevant to the activities described in the notice or must have carried out professional or research experience in at least one of the areas described in the notice, for at least three years after obtaining the Master’s degree in one of the following classes: Physics (LM17), Chemical Sciences (LM54), Materials Science and Engineering (LM53), Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (LM71), Chemical Engineering (LM22), or equivalent.
An excellent knowledge of the English language, a good command of the main software tools and applications supporting data analysis from research activities, and availability for travel in Italy and abroad are also required.
The reference notice of competition is No. 1/2025.
Area Science Park ensures equal opportunities for men and women in terms of access to employment and treatment in the workplace, in accordance with Legislative Decree No. 198 of 11 April 2006.
