The ICGEB invites applications for the post of Technician
POST TITLE: Technician
DUTY STATION: Trieste, Italy
DATE REQUIRED: as soon as possible
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed-term appointment
DURATION: Initial period of three months, with possibility of one year further extensions subject to performance.
LEVEL: GS-1 50% part-time (UN Salary Scales)

DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Head, Technical Services, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
– loading and operation of the automatic washing machines and stoves for correct washing and drying of plasticware and glassware from the research laboratories;
– loading and operation of the automatic autoclaves for correct sterilization of plasticware, glassware and solutions from the research laboratories;
– periodic internal cleaning of machines and minor maintenance work;
– production of supplies of high-quality Sterile Water for the research laboratories;
– perform other work related duties as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Essential: High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical High School qualification (Healthcare/Environmental biotechnology) and previous experience using the equipment in glassware and sterilization laboratory are an asset.

COMPETENCIES: Manual dexterity and practical ability to load automatic machines, problem-solving, interpersonal skills and interest in working in an international environment

LANGUAGES: Fluency in English. Knowledge of Italian is an asset
