The ICGEB invites applications for the post of Head, Information Technology Unit

POST TITLE:                             Head, Information Technology Unit

DUTY STATION:                       Trieste

DATE REQUIRED:                   1^st May 2018

DURATION:                              Initial period of three months, with possibility of one year further extensions subject to performance

LEVEL:                                       G6/G7 (UN Salary Scale), depending on experience and qualifications

DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Legal & Administration, the incumbent will be responsible for the full management of current IT infrastructure:

• mail server, web server, shared services
• management of security related issues
• networking management (intranet and internet)
• user management, including handling account requests
• data backups and disaster recovery strategies
• coordinating with Directors for deciding IT procedure and purchases
• support to internal users, acting as a technical expert in resolution of daily routine problems
• perform other work-related duties as may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:       

• Advanced University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related field.
• At least 5 years of system administration experience
• Knowledge and experience of advanced system administration of Linux operating system (Distributions: Ubuntu, Red Hat Scientific Linux)
• Knowledge and experience in managing IT services, (mail services, shared resources (SAMBA), centralized user authentication (LDAP))
• Knowledge and experience with physical and virtualized IT resources (good working knowledge of VMware, Veeam Backup & Replication, Azure and other cloud technologies is required)
• Knowledge and experience in IT network management (Cisco)
• Knowledge and experience in the fields of systems security, performance and tuning
• proactivity in proposing the optimization of current procedures and the creation of new ones
• Problem solving capacity

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in migration from in house hosted architectures to cloud architectures
• Knowledge and experience of Windows Server
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment while possessing strong interpersonal skills.
• Certifications (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft, Cisco)
• Experience with Apple MacOS and Windows operating system
• Experience with any programming language

LANGUAGES:                           English and Italian essential
