To this end the\u00a0<strong>Urban Transports Community*<\/strong>, an Interreg MED Programme initiative,\u00a0<strong>promotes sustainable urban mobility<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>planning<\/strong>\u00a0in the Euro-Mediterranean region as an effective tool to reduce carbon emissions and improve the quality of life of the population and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>The Community has gathered together\u00a0<strong>almost 200 organisations<\/strong>\u00a0(public authorities, associations, mobility planners, universities and international organisations, amongst others)\u00a0<strong>from 12 Euro-Mediterranean countries<\/strong>. In support of local authorities it has elaborated and published a selection of\u00a0<strong>tools and solutions with the highest replicability potential<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the project, the Area Science Park experts have developed several reports which constitute reference guides and a scientific basis for policy makers and urban planners to develop the planning of mobility and related infrastructures.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/urban-transports.interreg-med.eu\/fileadmin\/user_upload\/Sites\/Urban_Transports\/horizontal_project\/Deliverables\/UTC_IP_6\/UTC_IP_6_WP5\/UTC_5_3_2_Policy_Briefs\/UTC_5_3_2_Policy_Brief__4_Eng.pdf\">Urban mobility Adaptation to Climate Change<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is the topic of the latest policy brief presented on\u00a0<strong>December 14<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0<strong>2022\u00a0<\/strong>during the online event \u201c<a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/brattoli\/AppData\/Local\/Microsoft\/Windows\/INetCache\/Content.Outlook\/L8XEESNR\/Urban%20Transports%20-Mediterranean%20Cities%20and%20climate%20change:%20making%20the%20urban%20transport%20sector%20more%20resilient%20and%20less%20impactful%20(interreg-med.eu)\"><strong><em>Mediterranean cities and climate change: making the urban transport sector more resilient and less impactful<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>policy brief describes the main imp<\/strong>acts of climate change on urban mobility, with the aim of\u00a0<strong>raising awareness among policy makers<\/strong>, suggesting\u00a0<strong>possible solutions<\/strong>\u00a0to minimize its effects and make the mobility system more resilient to climate change. Transport infrastructures will be exposed, in the next decades, to an increasing number of new challenges from climate impacts. Panning today for the\u00a0<strong>construction of new and the management of existing infrastructures\u00a0<\/strong>will require the consideration of new environmental, climatic and socio-economic parameters and conditions with respect to those used in the past.<\/p>\n<p>During the project Area Science Park drafted<strong>\u00a0two other technical reports<\/strong>.
