ION\u00a0<em>Satellite Carrier<\/em>\u00a0is a multipurpose vehicle capable of performing satellite transport, payload\u00a0<em>hosting\u00a0<\/em>and advanced\u00a0<em>edge computing<\/em>\u00a0services in orbit in a single mission.<br \/>\nThe mission is scheduled for\u00a0<strong>October 2023<\/strong>\u00a0and the target orbit is SSO, at an altitude of 500 \u2013 600 km.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis opportunity will enable PICOSATS to reach<em>\u00a0flight heritage<\/em>\u00a0and enter the SATCOM equipment market with flight proven products\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Arianna Cagliari<\/strong>, VP Business Development.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2014 as a spin-off of the University of Trieste,\u00a0<strong>PICOSATS<\/strong>\u00a0is a company committed to the research, development, and commercialization of\u00a0<strong>cutting-edge telecommunications systems for the small satellite market<\/strong>\u00a0and beyond. The increasing use of small satellites in low orbits for satellite communications and the spectrum congestion has demanded the development of high-frequency, miniaturized telecommunications systems, and PICOSATS has seized the opportunity to enter this rapidly expanding market.<\/p>\n<p>PICOSATS is currently testing in an operational environment two transponders designed for CubeSats and small satellites, one in K\/Ka and one in Ku-band for applications in LEO and GEO. The development of these products makes use of the know-how acquired by the company through various opportunities provided by the European and Italian Space Agencies.
