This professional course provides the opportunity to acquire\u00a0<strong>robust technical competencies<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g., in data handling, metadata management, tool usage) that can be\u00a0<strong>applied at various levels<\/strong>, allowing you to tailor your positioning within the Data Steward role based on your career aspirations and the specific needs of the organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Duration and Modality<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The MDMC is a full-time 10 months program, which consists of 1500 hours of training activities, corresponding to 60 ECTS credits.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total Duration: 10 months, from September 15, 2025 to June 30, 2026<\/li>\n<li>Teaching Language: English<\/li>\n<li>Teaching Mode: In-person, with some remote sessions during the internship period<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Location of in-presence lectures: Trieste \u2013 Area Science Park &amp; SISSA<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Admission Requirements (Academic Year 2025-2026)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Admission to the Master in Data Management and Curation \u2013 MDMC &#8211; for the Academic Year 2025-2026 requires candidates to hold a Bachelor&#8217;s degree (Laurea Triennale) or a Master&#8217;s degree (Laurea Magistrale\/Specialistica), or an equivalent university degree (e.g., pre-reform Italian Diploma di Laurea).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the degree qualification, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements by the start date of the lessons to effectively follow the program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>English language:<\/strong> a good proficiency in English is required (CEFR B2 level or higher), as all lectures and teaching activities will be conducted exclusively in English.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Python programming:<\/strong> basic Python programming skills are required, as detailed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.areasciencepark.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ANNEX-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Annex 1<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mathematical skills:<\/strong> minimum mathematical knowledge equivalent to that acquired through university-level Calculus 1 and 2 courses (or equivalent).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Statistical skills:<\/strong> basic knowledge of statistics, including elements of probability theory, hypothesis testing techniques, understanding of Bayes&#8217; theorem, and statistical model comparison.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Technical equipment:<\/strong> availability and ability to use a personal computer equipped with a functioning Linux operating environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications for the Academic Year 2025-2026 must be completed and submitted <strong>exclusively<\/strong> through the dedicated online platform, accessible at the following link:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/pica.cineca.it\/sissa\/sissa-ilas-mdmcbis-2025\/domande\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-focus-mouse=\"false\"><strong>PICA &#8211; Master in Data Management and Curation: MDMC. Application Call 2025 &#8211; 2026<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>THE APPLICATION WILL BE OPEN FROM JULY 24TH TO AUGUST 20TH AT 13:00.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The online procedure requires uploading the following mandatory documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Letter of motivation:<\/strong> a document outlining the candidate&#8217;s reasons for interest in the MDMC Master and their professional goals (150 &#8211; 1500 characters).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Identity Document:<\/strong> a copy (front and back) of a valid identity document (ID card or passport).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Curriculum Vitae:<\/strong> an updated CV detailing the candidate&#8217;s educational background and any professional experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Participants, fees and fellowships<\/h5>\n<p>In this second call for the 2025\u20132026 edition of MDMC, both regular\u00a0<strong>participants\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0auditors\u00a0<\/strong>are eligible to apply.<\/p>\n<h5><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>Participants<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">For the Academic Year 2025-2026, the Master in Data Management and Curation (MDMC) will admit a\u00a0<strong>maximum of 15 participants<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"328\" data-end=\"391\">For\u00a0<strong>participants,<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"356\">standard tuition fee<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0<strong data-start=\"360\" data-end=\"374\">\u20ac 4,500.00<\/strong>, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"393\" data-end=\"563\">\n<li data-start=\"393\" data-end=\"454\">\n<p data-start=\"395\" data-end=\"454\">attendance to\u00a0<strong data-start=\"409\" data-end=\"451\">all in-person lectures held in Trieste<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"393\" data-end=\"454\">\n<p data-start=\"395\" data-end=\"454\">participation in a\u00a0<strong data-start=\"476\" data-end=\"504\">laboratory or internship<\/strong>\u00a0hosted by one of MDMC\u2019s partner institutions or companies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The participants&#8217; selection process will be based on the evaluation of qualifications (CV, academic background and motivation letter) submitted with the application. The selection committee may also invite candidates for an individual online interview to further assess their preparation, skills, and motivation. At the end of the process, a\u00a0<strong>final ranking<\/strong>\u00a0of admitted candidates will be established.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">External supporters will participate in the participants&#8217; selection, based on the position in this final ranking, the following\u00a0<strong>financial aid packages<\/strong>\u00a0will be available:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"32\" data-end=\"288\">\n<p data-start=\"34\" data-end=\"288\"><strong>Two grants<\/strong> of \u20ac4,500 each to cover the full tuition fee for the MDMC program, one of which will be awarded to a candidate holding a Master&#8217;s degree (laurea magistrale or specialistica) in Computer Engineering with a minimum grade of 102\u2013103 out of 110;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"289\" data-end=\"398\">\n<p data-start=\"291\" data-end=\"398\"><strong>One grant<\/strong> of \u20ac4,500 to cover the MDMC tuition fee, in addition to a \u20ac3,000 advanced training scholarship;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"669\" data-is-last-node=\"\">\n<p data-start=\"401\" data-end=\"669\" data-is-last-node=\"\"><strong>Two grants<\/strong> of \u20ac7,500 each, covering the \u20ac4,500 tuition fee and including an advanced training scholarship of \u20ac3,000, to be primarily awarded to students from institutions within the EFC network, and secondarily to students from national and international universities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>Auditors<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p data-start=\"157\" data-end=\"339\">Participation as an\u00a0<strong data-start=\"177\" data-end=\"188\">auditor<\/strong>\u00a0is allowed for up to\u00a0<strong data-start=\"210\" data-end=\"227\">5 individuals<\/strong>, or more\u00a0<strong data-start=\"237\" data-end=\"338\">provided that the total number of students (regular participants and auditors) does not exceed 20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"341\" data-end=\"451\">The\u00a0<strong data-start=\"345\" data-end=\"365\">registration fee<\/strong>\u00a0for auditors is\u00a0<strong data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"396\">\u20ac 2,500<\/strong>, which includes\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1069\">access only to the in-person lectures<\/strong>\u00a0in Trieste, offered from\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1121\">mid-September to mid-December 2025<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Auditors<\/strong><strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1170\">will not take part in the internship<\/strong>\u00a0or in the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1205\">final thesis project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"863\" data-end=\"1001\">If the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"870\" data-end=\"934\">total number of students (regular participants and auditors)<\/strong>\u00a0does not exceed 20,\u00a0<strong data-start=\"955\" data-end=\"1000\">auditors will not be subject to selection<\/strong>.
